quick update: Gunner is fine. the vet said he probably just slipped a disc and needs to take it easy. $200 later. sorry family, looks like this year christmas gifts might end up being homemade. 

i'm sick :(

something is wrong with my little stud. he's eating and doing normal dog-like things but his personality is off. we played fetch the other day but he's refusing to jump up in my car or on couches. i'm pretty sure he only pulled a muscle but its still sad. if having kids is anything like having a cute pup like him, i'm screwed. i'm already mourning the loss of at least $500. wah.

small business Saturday

ahh what can i say about black friday? its fun and all and don't get me wrong, i'm all about a great deal but honestly, i think it just sucks the life out of thanksgiving. just this year after dinner, rather than sitting around catching up with my family, my cousins, myself and my sister were in the living room of my aunt's house looking through flyers to see where we were going to go the next day. i went out and all because let's face it : i LOVE to shop. but i went out at noon...not midnight or 1am like some people.

so this year i am trying a new tradition that i hope will stick: "small business saturday". i love this idea. there are so many great little shops around my house and artists and i hope this catches on. i love buying local and this is just another great excuse to do so. this year our city is holding a huge craft fair called "Festival Fete" in our convention center. it's going to be a great assortment of artists and small businesses under one roof and i have recruited a few family members to come along.

i'm hoping one day i will be able to have a booth myself but until then i will support others who have already found their passion.

oh my goodness. i cannot even get over how much deliciousness i have consumed today.

thanksgiving has never been one of my favorite holidays. mostly because there is a lot of sitting around and eating. i like more activity. tonight however, we turned it up a notch. ever heard of "Quelf"? its a brand new board game that rocks my world. i haven't seen my brother let loose like that in such a long time. pretty much everyone was crying from laughing so hard at some point. go buy it. like now...its 12am and Target is definitely open for black friday. just in case...here is what you are looking for:

donut friday

i love donuts. if i had to choose one food to survive on for the rest of my days, it would be donuts hands down. so a while back i instituted "donut fridays" at work. basically it was a good excuse to have donuts bought for me by my boss and sit a while at my desk savoring each bite and putting off work. because i loved it so much, i've decided its time to make monday a little better too. enter....ginormous cinnamon bun. i mean, HUGE. usually, i'm a healthy eater but honestly, sometimes you need a carb...or 50. this is my effort to make mondays suck a little less. so im sitting at my desk at work, inhaling the most delicious concoction and enjoying a large coffee from my favorite cafe. so far, so good. we'll see how the rest of the day goes.

on to really exciting news....this week is only a 3 day week! on thursday i will be jetting off to sunny florida for a wedding and the timing could not be any better. i need some vitamin D in my life and a few days off of work doesn't hurt either. at about this time next week i will be running around the Wizarding World of Harry Potter with my not-so-young younger sister looking like an idiot and most likely holding a wand of some sort. there is a good possibility i will be the oldest person there without a child in tow. my sister kind of grew up with the Harry Potter phenomena but i have never been interested until we decided to go while down for the wedding. i figured i should probably get up to speed so when she starts rambling on about wizards and owls and such, i at least have a clue as to what she is talking about. why didn't anyone force me to read these books 10 years ago?! i feel like part of my childhood has been stolen from me! i'm fascinated by all this wizardy shenanigans. so like i said, in a matter of days i will be galavanting around this lovely place. if you're there and happen to see a 5'10" girl skipping around....don't mind me.

fridays are supposed to rock. especially this one. first off, its 11/11/11. thats awesome. andddd its a holiday! so i'm supposed to have spent the day shopping, lounging and catching up on some reading. did i? nooooo of course not! i was running around like an idiot wrangling over 300 kids on skates. it was hectic to say the least. and i got to end my lovely afternoon with a trip to a doctor. i'm missing approximately 1/2 cup of blood now.

needless to say, i needed a little pick-me-up. enter IKEA. aka my playground. so many fun ideas floating around in my head. my poor bedroom doesn't stand a chance.
